Analyzing and Reducing Simultaneous Firing in Signal-Event Nets

چکیده

Signal-event nets provide a modular modeling technique based on Petri nets. Actions of a module can be activated or can be prevented by another module through condition arcs. One-sided synchronization of modules is done by signal-events, which cause the execution of actions in steps. But due to condition arcs and signal-events simultaneous ring of steps may lead to markings, which are not reachable by conventional sequential interleaving. We give a criterion, in which situations simultaneous ring of steps can be safely omitted, without missing reachable markings.

Using Interval Petri Nets and Timed Automata for Diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems (DES)

A discrete event system (DES) is a dynamic system that evolves in accordance with the abrupt occurrence, at possibly unknown irregular intervals, of physical events. Because of the special nature of these systems, different tools are currently used for their analysis, design and modeling. The main focus of this paper is the presentation of a new modeling approach of Discrete Event Systems. The ...

Multivariate Frailty Modeling in Joint Analyzing of Recurrent Events with Terminal Event and its Application in Medical Data

Background and Objectives: In many medical situations, people can experience recurrent events with a terminal event. If the terminal event is considered a censor in this type of data, the assumption of independence in the analysis of survival data may be violated. This study was conducted to investigate joint modeling of frequent events and a final event (death) in breast cancer patients using ...

True-concurrency probabilistic models: Markov nets and a law of large numbers

We introduce the model of Markov nets, a probabilistic extension of safe Petri nets under the true-concurrency semantics—this means that traces, not firing sequences, are given a probability. This model builds upon our previous work on probabilistic event structures. We use the notion of branching cell for event structures and show that the latter provides the adequate notion of local state, fo...
